Production Inspections
Production is almost always handled by poke checking certain points using a CMM to obtain limited but valuable data about critical features on a lot of parts, this process hasn’t seemed like a good application for White Light Scanning and Computer Aided Inspection, until now. 

Level 3 Inspection has found a solution to the point set based production inspections. Using the same point set utilized by CMM, Level 3 can report surface deviations in terms of material condition as well as show the 3D color-plot report using the  SmartCompare™ process that combines White Light Scanning (WLS) with computer-aided-inspection (CAI).sure. 

The combination gives Level 3 the ability to perform more comprehensive inspections on parts in a shorter amount of time. The SmartCompare™ process involves verifying the CAD surface to the inspected surface as well as the CMM points for deviation. First-article inspections are done prior to full production release and often while a part is in development. The Level 3 approach replaces traditional CMM approach with WLS, which can capture and calculate precise 3D coordinates for millions of points in seconds.
